All About
My Baby Tree
My Baby Tree
WWF Indonesia started planting forests through NewTrees and
MyBabytree from 2008 and has planted trees in a forest area of 1016.3
hectares. For this initiative, WWF Indonesia is working with local
farmer groups starts from seedling process all the way to monitoring the
trees .
WWF Indonesia invites the public to have an active role in conservation efforts in Indonesia. For that WWF Indonesia launched a "MyBabyTree" as a program for the public who are concerned about the preservation of nature and want to contribute directly in the rescue efforts of Indonesia's forest.
How They Grow
Your baby tree will start out as a seed. But since babies
need special care and protection, the seed will initially be planted in a
nursery. Where it will be nurtured with the help of the local indigenous Sasak
community.
And Then?
These nurseries will be a safe transitional home for baby trees for
the first six months. Once they are strong saplings they will be
transplanted to Rinjani Protected Forest Protection in Lombok Island.
Here they will grow and provide a water catchments and supply for the
island and help us undo the damage one tree at a time. After your baby tree is planted, WWF will send you an
email so you could check it out on Google Earth.
